WILD CHILD

Alternative  Education

WELCOME FRIENDS

“Passion is lifted from the earth itself by the muddy hands of the young; it travels along grass-stained sleeves to the heart. If we are going to save environmentalism and the environment, we must also save an endangered indicator species: the child in nature.”
― Richard Louv, Last Child in the Woods: Saving Our Children from Nature-Deficit Disorder

Our philosophy grows from the idea of an emergent curriculum, belonging to the community of learners who come to our wild woods and cultivated by the interests and energy of those who play here.  We believe in mistakes, getting dirty, creating, imagining and adventure. We find value in projects, in real work, in technology as a tool, in finding our own path, in risk-taking and in making meaningful space for play. We strive to provide inclusive, quality care and education rooted in nature and inspired by progressive educational philosophy.

Our program includes  education and recreation opportunities for children and families, forest school programs and homeschool enrichment classes. We welcome children and families of diverse abilities, ages and identities.  We plan to offer licensed before and after school care in the near future, for homeschoolers this will mean subsidized care will be available on the outside space of any classes or day programs.

We invite you to join our community of artists, scientists, naturalists, explorers, storytellers, and wanderers.
